Hello, I’m Benjamin, a psychotherapeutic counsellor accredited by the BACP and registered with the UKCP.
I believe there is something deeply powerful about being seen and witnessed — not as we think we should be, but as we actually are.
Life can leave us feeling lonely, forgotten, or invisible. Sometimes there are things we carry that haven’t had anywhere to go, or feelings that have felt too difficult to say out loud.
I believe counselling can offer a place for those things to be acknowledged. A space where you can bring your pain, uncertainty, anger, sadness, confusion — whatever is there — and be met with compassion rather than judgement.
How I work and my approach
I work integratively, which means I draw on several types of counselling, depending on what feels most helpful for you. I use a blend of approaches, including:
Psychodynamic, which explores our past and how it can influence us today.
Humanistic, which provides a supportive space for personal growth and present challenges.
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), which focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.
Creative approaches, particularly when feelings are difficult to put into words.
My clinical experience includes organisational, community, and academic settings supporting clients in a wide range of areas. This includes anxiety, ADHD, bereavement, career uncertainty, depression, discrimination, family conflict, health-related challenges, LGBTQ+, loneliness and isolation, low self-esteem and confidence, neurodiversity, relationships and intimacy, stress, and trauma.
I have also worked with previously incarcerated clients in areas of abuse, addiction, and separation from family, as well as individuals working in the performing arts, experiencing concerns around body image, creative identity, and performance anxiety.
How I might be able to help
I see counselling as a collaborative process. Rather than telling you what to do, I'll work alongside you, helping you make sense of your thoughts, feelings and experiences. Together, we can explore the stories you hold about yourself, the beliefs you've picked up along the way, and the patterns that may no longer be serving you, at a pace that feels right for you.
Alongside empathy and non-judgement, I believe there is also room for humour, creativity and gentle challenge. Counselling does not always have to feel heavy; moments of lightness can help us see things from a different perspective, deepen understanding and open new possibilities for change.
