Dr Jade Copperwheat

Counselling Psychologist

Therapy In-Person or Online £115

Hello, I’m Jade, a Chartered Counselling Psychologist accredited by the British Psychological Society, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I work in line with the ethical codes of all three professional bodies.
I hold a Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy, with specialist training in existential, cognitive behavioural therapy, humanistic, psychodynamic, and psychoanalytic approaches. I also have a BSc in Psychology, an MSc in Health Psychology, and am part of the BPS Division of Counselling Psychology and Faculty for Eating Disorders.

About Me & My Approach
Reaching out for therapy can feel daunting, but I aim to create a warm, safe, and non-judgmental space where you feel truly heard and understood. Therapy is a collaborative process — together, we explore what matters to you, understand your challenges, and develop tools to cope and grow.
As an Integrative Counselling Psychologist, I draw on a range of approaches, including:
• CBT: Practical tools for anxiety, low mood, stress, and body image concerns.
• Existential Therapy: Exploring meaning, choice, and purpose.
• Humanistic & Person-Centred Therapy: Supporting self-acceptance and personal growth.
• Phenomenological & Psychodynamic Therapy: Understanding your lived experience and how past relationships can influence current patterns.
I tailor sessions to your needs, whether for short-term support, practical coping strategies, or a deeper exploration of identity and relationships.

Experience
I work with a range of psychological difficulties, supporting anxiety, depression, grief, self-esteem, relationship difficulties, and struggles around food and body image.
Previously, I have worked with Headstrong Counselling and the DAWN Charitable Trust, supporting people through trauma, emotional neglect, domestic abuse, divorce, and long-standing disconnection. I’ve also supported children (aged 14) with early mental health difficulties, using CBT, play therapy, and resilience-building tools.
I have experience with a wide range of adult clients, including those with borderline personality disorder, schizophrenia, and neurodivergence such as autism, ADHD, epilepsy, and cerebral palsy. I approach every client with curiosity, care, and respect.
