Ivana Michels

Integrative Therapist & Counsellor

Therapy In-Person or Online £70

Hello, I’m Ivana, and I have always had a deep interest in relationships, both the ones we have with others and, most importantly, the relationship we have with ourselves.
I offer a warm, secure, and non-judgmental space at our Golders Green practice for adults and adolescents who would like to explore their concerns more deeply. I work collaboratively, as I believe the quality of the therapeutic relationship and emotional attunement are central to meaningful and lasting change. My aim is to help you feel truly seen, heard, and understood, while working together towards healing and personal growth.
My practice is trauma-informed and integrative, meaning I adapt my approach to suit your individual needs. I draw on a range of therapeutic models to create a flexible, supportive, and personalised therapeutic experience.

Training and Professional Background
My educational background is in Psychology, and I completed a Master’s degree in The Psychoanalytical Approach to Observation at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust. I also trained in Integrative Counselling, combining different theories to create a holistic and responsive approach to therapy.
I am an accredited member of the National Counselling Society and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), working in line with their professional and ethical standards.

My Therapeutic Approach
I work to understand your experiences from your own point of view, offering genuine presence, empathy, and positive regard. I aim to create a space where you feel accepted in all aspects of your humanity and able to explore your thoughts and emotions openly.
My focus is on helping you reconnect with your inner resources, strengthen your sense of self-worth, and gain deeper insight into your emotional world, so that you can move forward with greater confidence and clarity.

Areas I Support
I have experience supporting clients with:
• Anxiety and stress
• Depression and low mood
• Work-related and relationship difficulties
• Anger management
• Grief, bereavement, and loss
• Low self-esteem and confidence
• Trauma and attachment-related issues

I believe early life experiences shape the narratives we carry into adulthood. By exploring these patterns together, we can better understand how they affect your present life and relationships, and how you can create healthier ways of relating.

Work with Adolescents and Young People (13+)
Alongside my therapy work, I have over 20 years’ experience working in education. This includes expertise in early years development, perinatal observation, and applied behaviour analysis within the autism spectrum.
I hold a certificate in counselling for children and use creative and age-appropriate approaches to help young people express themselves safely. I offer counselling for young people aged 13+, supporting them with anxiety, self-esteem, emotional regulation, and life challenges, helping them reconnect with who they are and feel more secure in themselves.

Trauma-Informed Practice
I have undertaken additional training in providing therapeutic safety for trauma and work sensitively with clients who have experienced difficult or overwhelming life events. I offer a calm, steady, and respectful space where healing can happen at your own pace.
