Maria Evans

Psychotherapist & Supervisor

Therapy In-Person or Online £100

I am a qualified and experienced relationship counsellor, psychosexual therapist, compulsive sexual behaviour therapist and clinical supervisor, registered with the BACP and COSRT.

I completed my postgraduate degree in counselling at Reading University in 2005, which focused on a psychodynamic approach, I have since studied and have experience in other therapeutic approaches and have incorporated them into my practice to fit the needs of my clients.

I have worked with individual clients since 2000 and trained as a relationship counsellor in 2009, I now see couples as well as individuals. In 2019 I qualified as a Psychosexual Therapist and in 2024 as a Compulsive Sexual Behaviour Therapist –this is sometimes referred to as a Sex Addiction Therapist. My psychosexual practice includes the use of CBT and Sensate Focus – starting with a sensual non-sexual approach to help clients gently look ways to reach their goals.

Over the last 20 years I have worked in various setting including NHS, the workplace and charities including Relate.

I am comfortable working with clients from the LGBTQ+ community and clients with neurodivergence. I am a registered dyslexic, diagnosed later in life, and learnt to accept and embrace my differences.

My strengths are being able to create a space for clients to talk openly about personal and intimate concerns. This is especially necessary when working either with clients with sexual issues or individuals wanting to stop an unhelpful sexual behaviour that has become a compulsion.

Online therapy available on Tuesday to Friday
In-person session Mondays from 12 pm to 4 pm in Golders Green
