Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, low mood, stress, or a sense of being stuck in unhelpful patterns. You might notice yourself overthinking, doubting your worth, or finding it hard to switch off.
Relationships can feel challenging at times, whether that’s difficulties with communication, boundaries, or feeling disconnected from others. Work pressures or uncertainty about direction may also feel difficult.
Often, these experiences are linked to deeper beliefs about yourself and your place in the world, which can shape how you think, feel, and respond day to day.
How I work
I offer a supportive and thoughtful space where we can begin to make sense of what’s happening for you, and start to move towards a way of relating to yourself that feels more manageable. This might involve exploring current difficulties, as well as gently understanding patterns that may have developed over time, including ways of coping that once made sense but no longer feel helpful. Alongside this, I draw on CBT approaches to support practical change where it feels useful.
My approach is integrative, combining CBT with person-centred, psychodynamic and existential perspectives. I aim to offer a balance between reflection and practical support, adapting how we work depending on what feels most helpful for you. I place particular importance on working in a way that is responsive to you, with a focus on building a steady and trusting relationship that supports change over time. I believe each person is unique, with their own strengths, experiences, and ways of making sense of the world, and I aim to work in a way that recognises and builds on this.
I work in a way that is adapted to you and what you are looking for from therapy. At times, this may involve using more structured, evidence-based approaches to support specific areas of change, while at other times it may be about having a more open, exploratory space to talk things through and begin to make space for self-discovery.
Experience
I have nearly 10 years’ experience working across NHS, charity, and private mental health services. I currently work within the NHS in secondary mental health services, supporting individuals with more severe and complex presentations, including psychosis.
What shapes my approach
My approach to therapy is shaped not only by my professional training, but also by personal experience. In the past, I have experienced anxiety, periods of low mood, and have worked through difficult experiences, which has given me an understanding of how complex and at times overwhelming things can feel internally.
Through my own experience of therapy, I came to appreciate the value of having a space that is separate from everyday life, where thoughts and feelings can be explored more openly and without pressure to “hold it together.” It allowed me to begin understanding patterns, rather than simply managing them, and to move towards a sense of healing over time.
This continues to inform how I work, particularly in creating a space that feels steady, thoughtful, and grounded, where you can explore your experiences at your own pace as part of your own journey, without feeling judged or rushed.
Curious about therapy?
If you’re considering therapy, I offer a brief initial consultation so we can think together about what you’re looking for and whether working together feels like the right fit.
