Phillip Sobel

Existential Psychotherapist

Therapy In-Person or Online £80

I am an existential psychotherapist with over seventeen years of experience working with adults who are facing emotional distress, trauma, loss, and periods of significant change. My work is grounded in the belief that therapy is not about fixing what is broken, but about creating a space where understanding, meaning, and renewal can emerge.
Much of my practice focuses on trauma and its lasting effects whether from a single overwhelming event or from experiences that have unfolded quietly over time. Trauma can leave people feeling disconnected from themselves, from others, and from life itself. Therapy offers the opportunity to slow down, to be met with care and respect, and to begin making sense of what has been endured.
My approach is relational, philosophical, and spiritual. I work collaboratively, adapting to each person’s needs rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model. Sessions are guided by thoughtful conversation, attention to lived experience, and a commitment to understanding what life feels like from your perspective. Over time, this can help uncover new ways of relating to yourself, your choices, and the world around you.
I trained in integrative psychotherapy and existential psychotherapy, and I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. Before entering private practice, I worked for several years within a community-based therapy service, supporting people from a wide range of backgrounds and life circumstances.
I practise in North London and welcome clients for both short-term focused work and longer-term therapy. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply unsure where to begin, I offer a calm, confidential space in which we can explore things together, at your pace.
